Monster Eyes truffles are very simple to make. As long as your kids are old enough to know how to safely use the stove, they can make this recipe!
The resulting truffle is quite soft, which adds to the gooey eyeball effect. Perfect for your next Halloween party!
Monster Eyes Truffle Ingredients
Makes about 30 truffles.
20 oz white baking chocolate
1 cup of heavy cream
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Candy eyes
Orange food coloring and flavoring if desired (we used these and the result was soooo good!)
Supplies
Small saucepan
Shallow bowl
Wooden spoon
Melon scoop
Stove
Monster Eyes Truffle Directions
Grate the white chocolate, set aside.
In a small saucepan bring the cream to a simmer over medium/high heat.
Add the butter and continue heating until it melts, stirring the whole time.
Add the grated chocolate and stir until melted and smooth.
Take the saucepan off the heat and stir in flavoring if needed and orange food color.
Pour into a shallow bowl and refrigerate for at least two hours until firm.
Using a melon baller scoop out eyeball shapes from the truffle mixture.
Push a candy eye into the top of each truffle.
Refrigerate in an airtight container or eat! If you want to really firm up the truffles, store them in the freezer.
Taking Monster Eyes Truffles To The Next Level!
This truffle recipe is quite a soft truffle. It tastes amazing and just melts on the tongue. If you are setting these out at a party, I would recommend placing the individual truffles in paper candy cups. It will make it easier for your guests to pick them up and enjoy them.
We chose this type of soft truffle because we thought it lended itself really well to the whole Monster Eyes effect. Want to know more about making truffles? Check out our Candy Science Lab exploring the art and science of truffle making.
