My boys have a weird sense of humor. I guess the question is really, “What teens and tweens don’t have a weird sense of humor?”
I mean they think the funniest thing in the world is hiding spiders in bath bombs. Or making soap with monster eye balls in it. Or poop. Poop is always funny.
Add onto funny something cool. Bats are super cool. We actually have some living in our backyard under the eaves of our shed. They are so elusive, but we see the signs that they are living there. Namely the poop! So much guano! Poop, poop, everywhere around our shed is bat poop!
So it should come as no surprise that our soap making adventures have taken us into the world of bat poop.
Introducing the prettiest pile of poo you have ever seen. It also smells amazing and has some wonderful, beneficial properties for the skin, too! Oh and it will make your kids giggle uncontrollably as they happily wash their hands spic and span.
How To Make Black Holographic Bat Poop Soap
First you need your supplies to create your bat poop awesomeness. This will make 6 glitter bat poop soaps!
1 1/2-pounds clear melt and pour soap cut into cubes
1 tablespoon jojoba oil
10-20 drops of cedarwood essential oil
Holographic cosmetic glitter
Activated charcoal powder
Poop soap mold
Spray bottle of rubbing alcohol
Medium sized microwave safe bowl or measuring cup
Easy Step-by-Step Directions for Making Bat Poop Soap
Here is a quick video showing each step:
Add cubes (each cube is approx. 1 ounce) of the soap base to a microwave safe bowl or measuring cup. Melt in 30 second intervals, stirring after each until it is completely melted.
Add 1 tablespoon of jojoba oil, and cedarwood essential oil to bowl. Cedarwood is known for having many benefits including as an antiseptic, tones skin, and can speed healing wounds. When used in aromatherapy, it can relieve headaches, depression, anxiety and relieve coughing. This is some amazing poop!
CAREFULLY add activated charcoal to the bowl (the powder can float up into the air and can make a bit of a mess if you mix too vigorously!) and mix thoroughly into soap mixture. If you have younger kids, an adult should do this step. Activated charcoal has powerful antioxidants which can promote anti-aging, preventing wrinkles and blemishes. It can pull toxins from the skin, unclog pores, remove dead skin and work to prevent skin infections.
Add glitter (reserve a bit for step 9) and mix in.
Spray the bottom of the mold with rubbing alcohol. Sprinkle a bit of the glitter into the mold and allow the alcohol to dry for a few seconds.
Carefully pour the soap mixture into the molds. Spray top of the liquid soap to prevent bubbles from forming. Allow the soaps to harden in the molds at room temperature for at least 4 hours. You can also leave them overnight.
Make sure there are no ripples when you blow on it. Once set, carefully “pop” the soaps from the mold.
Store in an airtight container until ready to use.
