This STEAM Project gets kids excited to learn! Create Spider-man bath bombs with a simple recipe, and learn hands on about chemistry, math and art.
In the large mixing bowl add the dry ingredients - baking soda, citric acid, dead sea salts and cornstarch.
In the microwave safe container melt the coconut oil.
Add polysorbate 80 and the fragrance or essential oils of your choice to the coconut oil. Stir.
Pour the liquid into the dry ingredients in the large bowl. Mix well.
Add a couple of drops of red soap colorant. Mix well.
Pack the molds tightly, filling to the top.
Let set for 24 to 48 hours in a warm dry place until hard.
Carefully remove from the mold. Let sit a bit longer if needed to harden all the way through.
Decorate the bath bombs - melt some coconut oil in a small bowl. In other bowls set out the mica powders and glitters you wish to use to decorate. Have one paintbrush for each bowl. Then simply paint your bath bomb where you want to decorate it with a bit of coconut oil. Then brush on mica powder or glitter (or sprinkle, whatever works for you) as desired on top of the coconut oil. Let dry.
