My boys love bacon. I get it, most people do, but I hate the grease, the mess, the time it takes to make bacon. Frankly in the mornings I just don’t have time and tried to avoid those pleas for bacon, until I discovered this trick! This less mess bacon trick has me loving bacon again!
Every week at least once I get a request for bacon, and I hated making it.
The grease splattering and burning me or getting on my clothes.
The mess and grease getting into everywhere and making my house reek of bacon.
My frying pan becoming a mess.
The finish on my frying pan getting ruined.
Dealing with all the grease.
Dealing with greasy fingers.
The time spent having to stand over the pan when I have a million other things to do.
The list goes on and on.
I tried making bacon in the microwave but it always came out dry and tasting a bit like cardboard.
Then I started doing something completely different and finally I can love bacon again!
Here is how I cook it now
Take a cookie sheet.
Line it with TWO layers of tin foil. Not one, that won’t work, you need two. Trust me.
Place your bacon on the lined cookie sheet.
Set in a cold oven.
Set your oven to 425 degrees and turn it on.
Come back when your oven dings that it’s reached 425 degrees and pull out the bacon. If it is not quite done to your satisfaction, throw it back in for another minute.
On a plate place a double layer of paper towels.
Using tongs transfer the bacon to the plate on top of the paper towels.
Fold the corners of the paper towels over and pat the grease off the bacon.
Then slide the paper towel out from under the bacon.
Place the paper towel on the cookie sheet so it soaks up all the grease.
Serve perfectly cooked bacon to starving children.
Once the tin foil is cool (usually within a couple of minutes), fold it up and toss it in the garbage.
Your cookie sheet will still be perfectly clean… yeah less dishes! The only dirty dishes will be the plate and tongs.
And the bacon smell will be gone with the trash. Well… once the kids have finished devouring the bacon.
Tip ~ Every oven is different, and different cuts of bacon cook up slightly differently. So for the first couple of times you should watch the oven closely and figure out your magic temperature setting.
I hope this hack saves you some time in the mornings!
