Once kids master the concepts in this kit, they will be prepared to step out on their own and make their own unique hydraulic powered pieces.
Leonardo da Vinci Catapult Kit – When looking for gifts for young makers, you really can’t go wrong with inspiration from one of the greatest makers ever: Leonardo da Vinci. This kit teaches how to build a catapult using da Vinci’s own designs and plans from 1485. Once kids have built this piece, they can use their new knowledge to create new catapult designs and become more skilled makers. Or just have tons of fun launching items to see how far they fly!
Makey Makey – Makey Makey has been on our list for a couple of years. Using every day objects like bananas make your own keyboard or instrument. It’s a great kit for inspiring young makers with thousands of possibilities. Highly rated and recommended this open ended creation tool kit will inspire young and old. Makey Makey should be on every young makers wish list!
Snap Circuits – It’s no secret, we LOVE our Snap Circuits around here. If there is one kit every elementary aged kid should have, this is it. There are many different types of kits, so you can pick one that suits your child’s interests and ability level. They go together quickly and easily, with an instruction booklet full of ideas. But it won’t stop there, once kids have figured out how to create circuits, the possibilities are endless as they begin creating their own circuits that light up, buzz, set things flying and more! It’s not just us, check out the thousands of 5 star
Lego – What can’t you build with Lego? During our many creations, builds and make it sessions, the one thing that comes out regularly is Lego. From building bases for things like our Circuit-Tree to learning about gears with Technic. You really can’t go wrong with Lego as a gift for young makers. We especially love the NASA and Harry Potter sets!
Tinker Toys – Tinker Toys are another basic that all young makers needs to help them on their creative journey. They connect easily and are great for teaching engineering skills. They are also very handy while making and creating, such as when we needed to build a launchpad for our bottle rockets.
MudWatt – This is such a cool kit where kids get to play around and create energy from dirt! We really enjoyed following it up with DoughLab. The kids LOVED waiting for the hand to wave to tell them when their dough was ready. They also have a new product called BioGlo that is coming soon that your young makers and scientists will go crazy over!
